Reality TV

Its no secret that reality tv is pretty much all you see on tv now. Almost every single channel has some kind of reality show. From ABC to CBS.  MTV to VH1. Its almost unavoidable. With shows like Parking Wars, Who wants be a Millionaire, The Bachelor, Basketball Wives, or Survivor, how could you not be tuned in to something. Other than sports, sitcoms, talk shows and the news, reality television is basically everywhere. Some shows are about finding love, some are about losing weight. Some are about survival, and some are about absolutely nothing at all like the hit show "Keeping up with the Kardashians". Whatever the case, you should at least be able to find a reality show that you enjoy tuning in to. Ever since the long time running show "Survivor" was launched back in 2000, all sorts of shows have been making it on tv, and having success. Although there have been some shows that have lasted just a season, for the most part, they're pretty reacurring. Personally, I like reality tv. Its entertaining. Watching people humiliate themselves for their 5 minutes of fame is hilarious to me. I know I'm not the only one who sits here and thinks Damn, they really just went on tv and did that? For instance, if I could describe the popular show basketball wives in one word, it would be "Ratchet". I don't understand how grown women can go on tv and act the way they do, but I do understand that people will act and do anything for a dollar, and if that means throwing wine glasses, jumping over tables at fancy restaurants, fighting in public, they will do it. Sometimes I just wonder do they consider that they might be embarrasing their families when they act the way they do on these shows? More importantly, say your on a show, you act a fool, the show ends, and you get nothing out of it. When I say nothing I mean like a spinoff, or enough money to live comfortable or whatever. You then have to come back to the real world. People may only see you as the person you portrayed on tv. Your 5 minutes of shine could end up hurting you in the long run. I know that recently, fomer reality star Tila Tequila had been hospitalized by a drug overdose. Sources say she was going through it because I'm guessing life wasn't as good as she depicted it to be on tv. Classic case of what happens wen the bright lights and cameras are gone. Reality tv is supposed to be unscripted lives of everyday people going through every day events. I think its great for tv, and viewing pleasure, but I also think that people shouldn't humiliate themselves for fame. All in all, reality shows are great! There's something for everybody, and they will only continue to thrive as time goes on...

  1. You got a point there with basketball wives cause I be wondering how Evelyn daughter feel watching her mom on TV acting a hot ghetto mess. Dont get me wrong tho I still find the show entertaining. I would rather watch celebrity reality shows tho because it allows you to see how the celebrity really is behind closed doors. Even tho some stuff be staged I still find the shows entertaining.
